This course covers topics related to Cholesterol and Metabolic Syndrome, as well as essentials to a Healthy Lifestyle. Part 1:  Cholesterol Modules

High cholesterol does not have symptoms, so many people are unaware that their level is too high. It is important to know your numbers because lowering cholesterol levels that are high lessens the risk of developing heart disease. In this module, you will learn about cholesterol levels, different types, issues with high cholesterol, ways to lower it and how to set a SMART goal.

As part two of Understanding Cholesterol, we will review the importance of healthier eating choices, at home and eating out. We will also review how setting SMART goals help us tackle health conditions in a manageable way.

As the final part of Understanding Cholesterol, we will focus on fat, cholesterol and nutrition labels. Monitoring fat and cholesterol in the foods we consume is an important part of a healthy lifestyle.

Part 2:  Metabolic Syndrome Modules

Metabolic Syndrome is a cluster of conditions that occur together, increasing your risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. It is important to know your numbers because having metabolic syndrome can increase your risk for health problems, even if they’re only moderately elevated. High blood pressure greatly increases your risk of heart disease or stroke. In this module, we will learn what metabolic syndrome is, risk factors and how to lower your risk and how to set a SMART goal.

As part two of Understanding Metabolic Syndrome, we will learn about causes and increased risks for metabolic syndrome. Some risks can be controlled, while others cannot. We will also review how setting SMART goals helps us tackle health conditions in a manageable way.

As part three of Understanding Metabolic Syndrome, we will learn what the possible complications of Metabolic Syndrome are, as well as how it is treated. A healthy lifestyle is a lifelong commitment and successfully controlling metabolic syndrome requires long-term effort. We will also review how setting SMART goals helps us tackle health conditions in a manageable way.

Part 3:  Healthy Lifestyle Modules

The final module of this course covers healthy living basics. A healthy lifestyle can be achieved with some changes and without a lot of sacrifice. In this part, you'll learn about 6 basic health essentials.
